About FORTUNATE COOKIE

There's always that frenzy that comes with the turn of each year, in terms of taking stock of where you are in your life, and where you want to be. As the final hours of 2009 ticked away, I could sum it up in one word – LOST: personally, creatively, emotionally.

Don't get me wrong: I have a lot to be grateful for in my life, but most of the time, I'm like a hamster on a wheel, running from one "To Do" to another – be that a person, place, thing – with no end in sight.

I'm a writer and published author, but primarily, I support myself as a consultant. Though I'm looked to as someone who is expected to have all the answers, I come up short when it pertains to my own life.

What I yearn for is a consultant of my own, but as someone who has exhausted the self-help circuit, I'm now willing to give anything a try - even seemingly random interventions. Message in a bottle. Sign from God. Fortune in mass-produced cookie?

The mission: every Friday, I track down a new cookie, break it open, and use the words inside as my life compass. I'm committing myself to act on them, whether they impart wisdom, warnings, or just a bunch of crap about someone being trapped inside of a cookie factory (road trip, anyone?).

At the very least, I'll go from hamster to guinea pig. What do I have to lose?

Or more importantly, what do I have to find?

Only time will tell.

Let's get cracking.
